THE LARGEST PINK DIAMOND IN THE WORLD

Darya-i-Nur or "Ocean of Light" is one of the largest Pink diamonds in the world and the largest pink diamond ever discovered. It is, along with Kooh-i-Noor, the most important diamond in Asia

Darya-i-Noor was discovered in 1739 in a mine in Andhra Pradesh, one of the states of India and came directly into the possession of the famous Moghul dynasty and belonged to the first emperor of the dynasty, Mohammed Moghul.

In the same year, Emperor Nader Shash of Persia invaded northern India, occupying the capital Delhi and killing much of the city's inhabitants. All the treasures of the city were handed over, thus entering the possession of the Iranian leader. In 1741, Nader was assassinated, and his nephew, who succeeded him to the throne, came into possession of India's most valuable Pink diamonds: Darya-i-Noor and Kooh-i-Noor. It was then transmitted from generation to generation in a raw state, from generation to royal line, until 1831.

The then leader, Nasser-ed-Din, ordered the grinding of the stone and mounted it in a frame, in an ornament that is still an emblem of Iran. The grinding of the stone lasted over a year, following the process, the jewel losing over 50% of the quantity. The Pink diamonds, which weighed 182 carats after grinding, was mounted in an elaborate and extremely precious frame, which contained 457 diamonds and 4 rubies, all framed in a solid gold frame. The ornamental value it has now has not been estimated, considering it "invaluable".

A dispute between the British and Iranian royal house made the jewel even more famous. English researchers from the mid-19th century claim that the jewel was actually bought by the East India Company and exhibited in the museum in Crystal Palace, London, in 1851, but Iranian officials of the Iranian Central Bank in Tehran claim that in fact the jewels of the Royal Crown would never have left the country.

In 1906, after Iranian leader Mohammed Ali was invaded by constitutionalist opponents, he fled the country with part of the country's treasury (including the Darya-i-Nur diamond), seeking political asylum in Russia. Thus, the famous jewels of Persia became his personal property. Eventually, as a result of numerous efforts by Indian constitutionalists, the treasure won in the battle by Nader of Persia was brought back to his homeland.

In 1965, as a result of studies done on Pink diamonds by a team of Canadian jewelers, it is believed that Darya-i-Nur was in fact part of the "Great Diamond Tablet", which also included the diamond known as Noor. -ul-ain, 60 carats.

Over the past century, the diamond emblem has been seen by all the great rulers and heirs of the world, as a major tourist attraction of Iran. It is now owned by the Central Bank of Tehran.

Over time, there has been much speculation about the origin, weight, possession and value of the Pink diamonds, but this is normal when talking about jewelry of such value. What is indisputable is the fact that Darya-i-Noor, like Kooh-i-Noor, has been given a special value, which is why they continue to remain invaluable.
